There's been a rankings up date in the recruiting landscape that has affected a certain Michigan State basketball commit in the 2026 class.

That's right, On3/Rivals came out with an updated 2026 class ranking this week, and Michigan State commit Carlos Medlock Jr. saw his number change drastically. Michigan State fans are used to seeing their players drop in rankings, but Medlock got a healthy bump that should put him closer to where he should be heading into his senior year.

But there's still room for him to move up.

According to the update, Medlock is now ranked No. 70 in the 2026 class. This means he's now one of the top 10 point guards in the country and he's one of the biggest risers in the rankings.

Just how far did he jump? He was at No. 149 in the previous rankings, meaning that he jumped 79 spots in this update. That's an incredible jump, but it reflects just how well he's been performing this summer, earning high praise from just about everyone. Tom Izzo clearly found another diamond in the rough, and my gut tells me he's not done rising.

Medlock wasn't the only recruit connected with the Spartans in that rankings update, as nearly a dozen targets made the new top 150.

Right now, it feels like the Spartans are in a good spot with Julius Avent (72), Quinn Costello (27), and Jasiah Jervis (22), but many are hoping for five-star big man Ethan Taylor (18).

It's good to see Izzo recruiting at a high level still at this point in his career. The 2026 class could be a critical one in the chase for No. 2.
