Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball have been recruiting the 2026 class like crazy over the past few months, and all the hard work seems to be paying off.
The Spartans were in to see Jasiah Jervis last week and the week before after he visited during Grind Week with current commit Carlos Medlock Jr. They've made it clear that he's the top remaining target in the 2026 class, but Izzo is keeping his options open.
Michigan State just hosted four-star forward Maximo Adams last week, and it's gearing up for more official visits in the coming weeks with guys like Ethan Taylor and Jalyn Collingwood.
The latter actually just trimmed his list down from eight, and cut two visits from his schedule. Fortunately, Michigan State made the cut.
News: Jalyn Collingwood, the No. 88 overall prospect in the class of 2026, is focused on five schools as he will no longer visit Maryland and Butler.https://t.co/0JVEJkVMJz pic.twitter.com/tTR3dIn3eJ

Collingwood is officially down to Mississippi State, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, and Michigan State. That's a fairly favorable recruitment to win, it just all depends on how badly Izzo wants Collingwood to be part of his 2026 class along with Medlock.
It's hard to say who comes next on the priority list after Jervis, but I'd assume Izzo wants to land a forward or two as well as a center. Collingwood could be the forward representation.
The top-100 small forward from Washington, D.C., is ranked the No. 88 overall prospect in the class by 247Sports. He's also the nation's 36th-best small forward and the second-best prospect from D.C.
Collingwood just visited Mississippi State and Ohio State, and he'll be in East Lansing on Oct. 3 for Midnight Madness weekend. After he sees East Lansing, he'll head to Texas Tech and then wrap up his official visit schedule with Vanderbilt on Oct. 17.
Collingwood seems to be closing in on a decision.
