It's been a rough couple of weeks for Michigan State basketball recruiting, but it feels like Tom Izzo is about to finally run into some good luck.

After swinging and missing on guys like Jalen Haralson, Trent Sisley, Darius Adams, and even Trey McKenney, Izzo has his sights set on his first commitment of the 2025 class on Thursday night.

Earlier this week, four-star small forward Jordan Scott, a native of Virginia, announced that he would be making his decision on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. ET and his finalists at Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Maryland. And from the looks of it, all signs are pointing toward this being a victory for the Spartans.

Scott was just on campus this past weekend for Midnight Madness and the Izzone Campout and while that may not be enough to secure a commitment (heck, Haralson was visiting for Grind Week), it's a pretty lasting memory for it being his last trip before making a decision. Those are two really cool events for recruits to check out and they can usually sway opinions -- especially if they both happen on the same weekend.

All the talk heading into Thursday night's announcement is that Michigan State is the team to beat and some recruiting insiders, like Trilly Donovan, have hinted toward just that.

It looks like Michigan State is finally going to add to its 2025 class on Thursday night with the No. 52 overall prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. He would pair nicely with a power forward like Cam Ward and potentially another wing like Dwayne Aristode.

Maybe this class will be elite, after all.
