Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball are looking to add to the 2026 recruiting class, and there are still a few elite options to choose from.

Fortunately for Izzo, he can be selective at this point with two of his priority targets already committed and 2-3 more spots to fill. There are some big names that he’s looking at such as Jasiah Jervis, Ethan Taylor, and Maximo Adams, but another has recently trimmed his list to five.

And Michigan State was included.

Four-star center Tristan Reed, the younger brother of former Michigan big man Tarris Reed, has trimmed his list of schools to five, and the Spartans are one of the finalists.

Michigan State, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Maryland are the finalists for Reed who has wrapped up his official visits, and he was just in East Lansing on Sept. 20.

It feels like Reed is a backup play if Taylor doesn’t work out. Izzo seems to be all in on Taylor who’s a five-star and the No. 2 center in the class. Reed has to be considered an elite backup plan, ranked the No. 69 overall recruit and No. 7 center in the 2026 class. He, too, plays at Link Academy, so he’s teammates with Taylor and current Spartan commit Carlos Medlock Jr.

One high school team has two of the top seven centers in America. Insane.

Izzo will probably look to land one of the two center targets here in the coming weeks to close out that portion of his 2026 recruiting class. He can’t go wrong with Reed or Taylor.
