Just one day after it was announced that Michigan State basketball was going to host three class of 2026 recruits during Grind Week in September, we have gotten news that one of those recruits has already committed to the Spartans.

That recruit is none other than four-star point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. from Link Academy in Missouri. He stands about 6-foot-0 and comes in as a top-100 recruit in the country per 247Sports. Medlock holds 12 offers according to 247Sports. Michigan and Iowa were two other notable names involved in his recruitment. Creighton also recently offered him as well.

ESPN Basketball Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi shared the news on socials, and Carlos has also confirmed.

Medlock originally is from the state of Michigan. He played his first three high school seasons at Wayne Memorial before transferring to Link Academy for his senior year. He is a natural scorer and is the perfect prototype guard for Tom Izzo. He is tough, and he projects to be a 3-4 year build -- Izzo's favorite.

While being ranked highly by most recruiting boards, some feel his height holds him back from really being more highly touted. Though 5-foot-11 isn’t exactly an ideal height, Medlock's creativity and ability make up for it. Learning from upperclassman Jeremy Fears Jr. will also be huge for him and could pay major dividends.

Former Spartan AJ Hoggard is a fan of Carlos as well. Upon hearing that he locked in an official visit during grind week this year, he tweeted out on Thursday, stating, “Spartan nation let’s do it right! Killer right here.”

Medlock should be in attendance for Grind Week, and he could get some work in with Hoggard if his schedule allows him to come back to East Lansing.

Congratulations to Medlock on his commitment. We are excited to see you here in East Lansing. Go Green.
