Magic Johnson always has his eyes on his alma mater. And this year has been no different. Magic was at both games out in LA as Michigan State basketball took on both USC and UCLA. Sure both games didn't go the way of the Spartans, but the legend never wavered his faith.
That faith in his Spartans has come a long way since that rough road trip. The Spartans have won five straight games against the best teams in the Big Ten, and Magic is excited to see what the team can do the rest of the season.
He has sent plenty of positive messaging via social media as the Spartans have made this awesome run through the toughest late-season schedule arguably in the country.
It started with his post following Tre Holloman's buzzer-beating half-court shot to beat Maryland last week.
Tre Holloman hit a half court shot to seal the victory for my Spartans over Maryland on the road and I just started jumping up and screaming like a little kid. This is their third win in a row over a ranked opponent! @MSU_Basketball https://t.co/oGEGuEA9Bq

"MSU is playing their best basketball heading into the tournament. Defensive schemes and man-to-man rotations have been exceptional, and they have been thriving on creating transition offense/fast break opportunities from turnovers," Johnson wrote.
That's some great praise from Magic. It further proves how much the former players at Michigan State still care about the program. From Magic shouting out, to even the likes of Draymond Green, Max Christie, and Jaren Jackson Jr. all commenting about the huge shot Holloman made.
We have plenty of support both from the fans and all of our great alums. That's something a lot of these other schools can't say. Hope to see some of the guys during potentially another run to a Final Four.
The support has always been awesome.
