Grind Week is one of the best recruiting events of the year for Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball and it was actually the reason Jase Richardson chose the Spartans over Alabama.
Well, it's coming back for another year and the date was just announced.
According to Justin Thind of 247Sports, Grind Week will be the weekend of Sept. 5 which means it'll be when students are back on campus and it'll take place during a football Saturday as Boston College comes to town for a primetime game.
I’m told #MichiganState’s basketball program will be hosting its annual Grind Week festivities during the weekend of September 5th.

This will be a big hoops recruiting weekend, and I will have more reporting on that front shortly.
MSU vs Boston College is 7PM that Saturday.
This is a great opportunity for Michigan State to host some recruits for one of the best weekends of the year and also those prospects can meet some former players and connect with current guys. This really gets these prospects closer to the program and there's really no better recruiting event for Michigan State hoops, including Midnight Madness weekend.
Izzo is already scheduling visits for that weekend and that news will be published soon, but there are a couple of top prospects who will be in town for Grind Week and one of them happens to be arguably the fastest riser on the Spartans' board (Carlos Medlock Jr.).
If Michigan State wants to get the ball rolling on the 2026 class, I think it'll need a commitment to come from that weekend and I like the Spartans' chances. It's hard to say no to that culture.
It'll be interesting to see which former players come back to campus for Grind Week. My guesses would be Draymond Green, Jaren Jackson Jr., Miles Bridges, Cassius Winston, Matt McQuaid, and Jase Richardson, among others.
Michigan State really has an elite hoops culture.
