About 2.5 years ago, Michigan State's campus was shocked by an unspeakable tragedy.
The campus was rocked by a campus shooting that took the lives of three students. The cold February air was a little heavier in February of 2023 because the campus just wasn't the same as a man not connected to the school walked down the streets of campus, into The Union, and into some classrooms and committed a senseless crime.
Following the tragedy, other schools around the nation became Spartans as they showed their support for Michigan State. Even Michigan fans put on "Spartan Strong" shirts in the wake of the tragedy.
While it's been over two years since this took place, it's still on the hearts and minds of Michigan State fans who felt their sense of safety on campus disappear suddenly.
The three victims -- Arielle Diamond Anderson, Brian Fraser, and Alexandria Verner -- were never able to walk across the graduation stage which just tugs at every heart string in the human body.
But now, thanks to a vote from the Board of Trustees on a proposed plan, they will forever be part of the campus as the BoT voted unanimously to approve the construction of a permanent memorial to honor the three victims on campus, per Seth Wells of WILX.

More details to come shortly. (will reply to this thread). pic.twitter.com/3PEAB6mPd3
The proposed memorial looks like a reflection fountain surrounded by white marble seating, enclosed by shrubbery, will begin its construction soon. There's no official date for the construction, but I'd assume this won't take long to build, and it's something everyone can agree on.
What a great move by the university to build a permanent memorial, so the three shooting victims will never be forgotten, even if they are honored every year on the campus rock.
We will never forget Arielle, Brian, or Alexandria, and knowing that they'll forever be part of Michigan State's campus just feels right.
