Marcus Bingham Jr. has found himself a new home.
The former Michigan State star who really rose to stardom during his senior season in East Lansing has spent his entire professional basketball career overseas. He spent his first three post-Michigan State seasons in the Israeli Premier League with three different teams and then he signed with a Russian club in the VTB League for 2025-26.
Bingham has become somewhat of a hot commodity in the EuroLeague apparently, as he was just signed by the 2025 champs, Fenerbahçe Erkek.
According to the club, he’s signed a two-year deal.

Fenerbahçe Erkek Basketbol Takımımız, son olarak Unics Kazan forması giyen Amerikalı pivot Marcus Bingham Jr. (2.13cm - 2000) ile 2 yıllık anlaşmaya varmıştır.

Since joining the EuroLeague 20 years ago, Fenerbahçe has won two titles, including its latest in 2025. They’re looking to get back to the top of the league and they believe that the former Michigan State big man can get them there.
Bingham was a star for UNICS Kazan in the VTB League last season, averaging 15.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals over 54 games. He’ll now head to the EuroLeague where his skills will be on display on a larger level. He’ll have more eyes on him and I’m assuming he’s about to see bigger paychecks in the EuroLeague than he did with the Russian club.
This was a big move for Fenerbahçe as they begin their quest for a third title and a second in three years, signing one of the most promising bigs overseas for the upcoming season.
EuroLeague action is scheduled to tip off in late-September.
Marcus Bingham Jr. always had potential
Seeing Bingham have success overseas isn’t anything too surprising. Michigan State fans knew this was coming all along.
Bingham began his career as a raw four-star big man from Grand Rapids who had serious potential but looked like a baby deer on the floor at times. I actually remember ESPN posting a way-too-early 2019 NBA Mock Draft and Bingham was listed as a potential one-and-done prospect for Tom Izzo.
Unfortunately, it took him a few years to really get going in East Lansing. He didn’t average more than 3.5 points and 3.6 rebounds over his first three seasons at Michigan State, but he broke out as a senior with 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. Those numbers weren’t blowing anyone away, but he was a late-bloomer who probably needed one more year in East Lansing to really have a shot at the NBA.
I can’t help but think he’d be one of the biggest beneficiaries in the Izzo era of the five-year eligibility window.
Now he’s playing for one of the top teams in the EuroLeague and if he plays like he did for UNICS Kazan, he’s going to have several teams trying to acquire him throughout the remainder of his career.
