Every year, Michigan and Michigan State basketball fans seemingly create pointless, endless, nauseating arguments to torture themselves throughout the offseason, and we have officially found that debate for 2025's summer months.

Over the years, we've heard Cassius Winston vs. Zavier Simpson, Xavier Tillman vs. Brandon Johns (yes, I'm serious, this was a thing at one point), and now we have our latest debate.

Jeremy Fears Jr. or Elliot Cadeau.

While it's still early, it feels like this debate is only going to pick up in the coming months as they've been right next to each other in some Big Ten point guard rankings (Sleepers revealed one a couple of weeks ago with Fears just ahead of Cadeau in a blind ranking). Also, they have similar styles of play as playmakers who don't shoot the ball exceptionally well.

Oh, and it's going to rage on after Fears saw a team-to-team comparison with Michigan that called Cadeau the better point guard.

Michigan fans are going to obviously say Cadeau is the better player even though Fears is 1-0 against him and beat the Wolverines twice last season, hitting a dagger against them in Ann Arbor.

In the head-to-head matchup against Cadeau during the Maui Invitations this past season, Fears finished with 13 points, six assists, and four rebounds as the Spartans pulled off what was considered to be an upset at the time. Cadeau finished with 17 points, six assists, and three rebounds. He shot the ball well and it was one of his better games of the season.

On the year, Cadeau averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 assists but he turned the ball over 3.1 times per game and shot under 34 percent from deep. Fears averaged 7.2 points and 5.4 assists with just 2.0 turnovers per game, shooting just over 34 percent from 3-point land -- although he did shoot under 40 percent from the field.

Let the debate rage on -- or... or, we just let it play out during the season?

We know what fans are going to choose.
