Michigan State basketball knew what it was getting with its 2023 recruiting class. They had Jeremy Fears Jr. at point guard, along with Xavier Booker and Gehrig Normand. The final piece of the puzzle was a highly athletic wing from Stockbridge, Ga.

I'm talking about Coen Carr. And he hasn't disappointed as he continues to showcase his athleticism. It hit a new high in the Spartans' win against Florida Atlantic. Carr finished the game with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds.

Not only that he made his first career 3-pointer, and showcased what he can still improve on. Fears knew what Carr could bring to the table even back in high school when he helped recruit him to East Lansing.

Part of it was probably knowing he was going to get to lob passes to Carr for some flashy dunks, which has proven to be true. The last few games have seen Fears lob a pass from his butt to Carr at the rim, and this past game saw him find once again for several slams.

Following the win against FAU, Fears told a story about how he and Carr first crossed paths. According to Spartans Illustrated, the pair met at a Subway during a high school basketball tournament in Florida.

Fears went on to talk about how he helped convince Carr to join Booker, Normand, and himself at Michigan State. Talk about some loyalty and wanting to help the program.

It's becoming more and more clear that this group of players is going to get Izzo and company back to an elite level. One thing is for sure the Spartans are back to being fun to watch and I'm all here for it.

It has been too long, and Spartan Nation deserves to be back amongst the elite.
