Michigan State sent four representatives (and Tom Izzo) to 2025 Big Ten Media Days on Thursday, and Jaxon Kohler, Jeremy Fears Jr., Coen Carr, and Carson Cooper got a chance to speak to the media.

Everything was discussed from last season’s Big Ten title to this year’s team to even transfer options in the offseason, which Fears and Carr shrugged off and said they never considered them.

Kohler’s media time was a bit overlooked, but he provided some good insight into this year’s team. As a first-time team captain, he’s embracing that leadership role, and he got to speak about some of the young guys on the team.

The senior big man touched on the incoming freshmen, and he had some rave reviews for both Cam Ward and Jordan Scott through the first few weeks of practice — and an entire offseason.

Kohler said that Ward is one of the most physical guys he’s ever played against as a Spartan and then stated that Scott is “a sniper” from deep.

Glowing reviews like these are what get fans so excited for the season, and it just goes to show that Izzo has an elite eye for talent. He had two spots to fill in his 2025 recruiting class, and by all accounts, he knocked it out of the park with the additions of Scott and Ward.

Izzo, too, has had some high praise for his freshmen. While they may not see the court extensively this year, they’re likely going to have solid Michigan State careers when they get their chances.

Kohler is putting fans on to these talented freshmen early.
