While Michigan State was busy recording its eighth straight Quad 1 win, fans were slightly worried about the status of freshman sensation Jase Richardson.
The son of former Michigan State and NBA star Jason Richardson took a knee to the neck late in the second half that was ruled a flagrant 1 against Oregon. While it didn't seem to have any intent, it was still a blow to the head/neck area and, by rule, that has to be considered a flagrant foul.
Richardson keeled over on the floor, holding his head and many were worried that he suffered another head injury that might force him to miss some time.
In case you don't recall, Richardson suffered a head injury in the Memphis game at the Maui Invitational earlier in the year and was forced to miss a game because of it. He took a pretty good shot yet again on Friday and it felt like we would hear the same type of injury news from Tom Izzo after the game.
Fortunately, Richardson himself gave an update on his injury and it should have Spartan fans breathing a massive sigh of relief, according to Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows who spoke to him in the locker room following the win.
"I feel fine. I had a little bit of neck soreness after the play, nothing to do with my head. Had a neck rub-down, I feel great right now. This one, compared to Maui is not even close. (In Maui) I got jacked up, for sure. I definitely feel good."Jase Richardson on his neck injury
This is great news considering the Spartans can't afford to lose their best player at this point of the season when it's "win or go home" time.
Looks like Jase will be good to go on Saturday against Wisconsin with just a little soreness.
