The 2026 NBA Draft is quickly approaching and Jeremy Fears Jr. is facing a huge decision while Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper are going through the process as well. The three Michigan State draft prospects have been scheduling pre-draft workouts but everyone’s main focus right now is on the looming Fears decision.
While Fears is facing a tough decision in the coming week, there are some draft experts posting eay-too-early 2027 NBA Draft boards.
One early big board has an incoming Spartan freshman ranked in the top 10 among all 2027 NBA Draft prospects and that just means that they might be seeing a second one-and-done in three years.
The Spartans’ top 2027 NBA Draft prospect is actually somewhat surprising given the fact that Fears may very well return and Coen Carr is going to be a legitimate draft prospect as well.
Jasiah Jervis is a top-10 NBA draft prospect in next year’s class according to KJScouting.

When you think about early 2027 draft boards, Fears and Carr come to mind, but Jervis deserves some love, too. Clearly he’s considered one of the top incoming guards in the 2026 recruiting class and judging by the role he’s likely to play as a true freshman, he could see a Jase Richardson-type ascension as a prospect.
Jervis is considered one of the top prospects in the incoming 2026 recruiting class and now he’s apparently looked at as one of the best NBA prospects in college basketball.
I fully expected Jervis to become an NBA player at Michigan State but I didn’t think he’d be one after one season. That will all depend on his role in 2026-27.
Jasiah Jervis may have a hybrid role with Michigan State
In the off chance that Fears remains in the NBA draft, Jervis will have to tackle a larger role. He’ll likely have to be a combo guard and primary ball-handler more than he originally expected.
Obviously Michigan State fans are hoping that’s not the case and that Fears returns for another season to try and improve his draft stock. He’s projected as a second-rounder, at best, right now, but many believe he could be a first-rounder if he comes back for his junior season. I also believe he needs 1-2 more years in East Lansing but he does have first-round potential.
Even if Fears does come back, I think Jervis could be the emergency point guard option. If Fears is in foul trouble or needs a breather and Carlos Medlock Jr. isn’t available for some reason, I could see Jervis sliding into that third point guard role.
I like the trio of Fears, Medlock, and Jervis at point guard much better than the trio of Fears, Divine Ugochukwu, and Denham Wojcik. Michigan State should be in good hands with some legitimate NBA prospects in the backcourt in 2026-27.
