After just two years in East Lansing, Makhi Frazier is looking for a new home.
Michigan State football’s RB1 from this past season entered the transfer portal after putting up over 500 yards and two touchdowns. He probably could have approached 1,000 if he played more than one game after that Oct. 25 loss to Michigan. He rushed for over 100 yards against the Wolverines and then had just 27 yards the remainder of the season.
Now, he’s garnering some SEC interest.
Michigan State’s departing starter at running back had a solid redshirt freshman season with the Spartans, but he’s looking for a fresh start.
According to one report, the SEC is a-calling.
BREAKING: #Florida will host Michigan State sophomore RB Makhi Frazier for a visit from Jan. 8-9, a source tells @Swamp_247

Reports indicate that Frazier will be heading down to Gainesville later this week to check out Jon Sumrall’s Florida Gators. He has replaced Billy Napier who was the splash hire a few years ago before fizzling out at Florida. Sumrall comes over from Tulane, and expectations are high.
It looks like he wants to add some depth at running back in a guy who led a Big Ten program in rushing yards despite missing a quarter of the season.
Frazier will have other suitors, but this is an interesting potential landing spot for the transfer portal’s No. 27 running back.
Michigan State has some RB questions of its own
While Florida is busy addressing the need for running back depth, Michigan State has the same problems, especially after losing Frazier.
Michigan State will be hosting several transfer running backs over the next week, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see at least one commitment coming soon. Brandon Tullis is back, as of right now, and so is Jace Clarizio, so there is talent returning to the backfield, but there’s not much proven experience.
That’s where the transfer backs come in to play.
Kam Davis, a top-100 running back from the 2024 class who’s been at Florida State, will be visiting Michigan State. He’s the No. 30 running back in the portal.
The Spartans are also set to host the following running backs:
- Trequan Jones, Old Dominion (No. 40 RB)
- Cam Edwards, UConn (No. 49 RB)
- Carter Vargas, UC Davis (No. 51 RB)
- Nolan Ray, Maryland (NR)
These guys all have potential to be RB1s, they just need the right home.
Michigan State could take 1-2.
