The transfer portal officially opened on Friday, and that meant that several more Michigan State football players would be entering their names, and others would be announcing returns for 2026.

It also marked the first day that we would hear about Michigan State’s visitor list over the next week or two.

Pat Fitzgerald is entering his first portal period with Michigan State, and he’s already working on getting some key visitors. Already in the first day of the transfer portal, Fitzgerald has set up double-digit visits, and he’s targeting guys at key positions.

Michigan State could use help in the trenches after losing guys like Stanton Ramil, Gavin Broscious, the Luniewski twins, Cole Dellinger, Jalen Thompson, and Alex VanSumeren. The trenches on both sides of the ball need to be addressed.

Receivers, running backs, and defensive backs must also be huge priorities for MSU.

Michigan State has lost plenty in the trenches, but the receiving corps has taken a massive hit with Nick Marsh, Evan Boyd, and Chrishon McCray all transferring out. In the backfield, Makhi Frazier is gone, so Fitzgerald is going to address that — and he’s already set up several visits from running backs.

The secondary, too, is being addressed, and I think Hank Poteat could bring 1-2 Iowa State defensive backs with him.

With transfer news breaking seemingly every minute, Fitzgerald is racking up visits.

Which transfers will be visiting Michigan State?

Fitzgerald has already locked down about a dozen visits as of Friday afternoon from the Group of Five, FCS, and the Power Four.

Here’s who Michigan State will have visiting so far:

  • Marvis Parrish, RB, Western Kentucky
  • Kam Davis, RB, Florida State
  • Trequan Jones, RB, Old Dominion
  • Tyran Chappell, CB Houston Christian
  • Michael Richard, DB, Louisiana Tech
  • DJ Jackson, EDGE, Troy
  • MJ Stroud, EDGE, Georgia Southern
  • Mekhi Mason, LB, Louisiana Tech
  • Corey Scott, WR, West Florida
  • Tre Bell, DB, Iowa State
  • Caleb Wheatland, LB, Auburn

The visits are going to keep lining up over the next couple of weeks as the transfer portal news continues to heat up, but Fitzgerald is off to a nice start.
