After months of battling for an active roster spot, former Michigan State linebacker Jacoby Windmon has officially been signed by the Carolina Panthers.

This is a pretty cool development for the former star linebacker who had an up-and-down career with Michigan State and who deserves good things happening to him. He was a leader for the Spartans for two years but unfortunately was involved in the tunnel incident in 2022 that kind of derailed his promising MSU career.

Now, he's officially an NFL linebacker for the Panthers who desperately need help.

Carolina is widely considered the worst team in the NFL and Windmon is joining the team with no expectations and an opportunity to carve out a nice role with the franchice. He could become the go-to outside linebacker and he has all the tools to become a star in the right system.

Windmon had an impressive career at UNLV before transferring to Michigan State. He had 118 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in 2021 before breaking out in the first eight games with the Spartand for 49 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception, two pass breakups, and a nation-leading six forced fumbles. This dude can flat-out play.

Unfortunately, the coaching mess in 2023 derailed his final season of college football as he played just three games and had 15 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack. He was productive even in a lost season with just three games played.

Now, he'll get to prove himself with the Panthers who need serious defensive help and I think he's going to do a solid job. Let's hope he becomes a staple of an NFL defense.
