The second former Michigan State football player was selected late on Saturday evening during the 2025 NFL Draft.

First, it was Derrick Harmon who spent the 2024 season at Oregon and he earned a first-round selection. And then it was 2020 Michigan game star Ricky White who was picked in the seventh round by the Seattle Seahawks.

White broke a true freshman receiving record in that epic win over Michigan in Ann Arbor and every Michigan State fan can tell you exactly where they were when he and Rocky Lombardi combined to bury the Wolverines as near-30-point underdogs. He will forever be a legend for that.

However, following his freshman season with Michigan State, he entered the transfer portal and landed with UNLV where he was successful almost immediately.

In fact, he had 51 catches for 619 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore in 2022 after missing the entire 2021 season. As a junior in 2023, he really broke out, catching 88 passes for 1,483 yards and eight touchdowns before finishing up with 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns on 79 receptions in 2024. He was more than productive in his college career.

Seattle has Jaxon Smith-Njigba and traded DK Metcalf to the Steelers so there's a need for receiver help and White could step up there. He could fill a void in that receiving corps.

It's not often you can land a talented wide receiver who had 3,366 yards and 24 touchdowns on 228 catches in four years at the collegiate level this late in the draft, but the Seahawks got lucky.
