The transfer portal era has made for some interesting rooting interests for Michigan State football fans, among others.

It's easy to root for some Michigan State transfers who left on good terms or who never said anything bad about the program or its fans. Ricky White is one of those guys who has been easy to root for because he helped the Spartans beat Michigan back in 2020 with a record-breaking game for a freshman. He had eight catches for 196 yards and a touchdown vs. the Wolverines.

White became a Spartan legend in that shocking upset win in Ann Arbor and immediately joined the rivalry's lore. So for that reason, it's been fun to root him on from a distance.

It's even easier to root for him when he's dominating the college football ranks.

Last year, he had over 1,400 yards and eight touchdown catches on 88 receptions and he's on pace to approach that this season as he's currently 16th in the country in receiving yards with 614 and 14th in receptions with 46. And he's second nationally in receiving touchdowns with nine.

Oh, and he leads the nation in one ridiculously impressive category: blocked punts.

White leads college football in blocked punts (3) while no other FBS team has more than two. That's right, one single former Spartan has more blocked punts than any team in the FBS through eight weeks.

Wild.

Outside of being an All-American caliber receiver, White is a special teams superstar, blocking three punts and even returning one for a touchdown earlier this year.

This dude is a freak.
