It's Hate Week and both Michigan and Michigan State football fans are ready to take in the annual rivalry game with both teams on the same tier through eight weeks.
Both Michigan and Michigan State are 4-3 on the year and the Spartans seem to be trending in the right direction while the Wolverines, fresh off a national title last year, are fading. This is evident when you listen to takes from both fanbases.
But before I really dive into anything about the game, I decided to do my weekly EA Sports College Football 25 simulation for Michigan State's matchup.
And the results were interesting.
Results from CFB 25 simulation of Michigan vs. Michigan State football
I ran a simulation with the same time slot and weather as Saturday's game in Ann Arbor to make it as close to the real thing as possible and EA Sports College Football 25 has Michigan winning 24-17.
I don't necessarily agree with this prediction and I hope it's incorrect, but it does have a close game predicted and Michigan State will finish with 332 total yards to Michigan's 338. It will basically be a toss-up, which is what EA Sports is telling me.
Here are some key stats from the game:
Player | Stats |
---|---|
Aidan Chiles | 14-for-31, 197 yards, 2 TDs; 65 rushing yards |
Nate Carter | 17 rushes for 70 yards; 13-yard catch |
Jack Velling | 3 catches for 36 yards |
Montorie Foster Jr. | 3 catches for 69 yards, 2 TDs |
Nick Marsh | 1 catch for 25 yards |
Jordan Turner | 13 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass breakup |
Malik Spencer | 9 tackles, 1 pass breakup |
Charles Brantley | 5 tackles, 1 INT, 1 pass breakup |
Jalen Thompson | 4 tackles, 2 tackles for loss |
Jordan Hall | 6 tackles |
Jonathan Kim | 1-for-2 on field goals, long of 34 yards |
Ryan Eckley | 9 punts, 43.6-yard average |
There weren't many offensive standouts from this game as Aidan Chiles completed under 50 percent of his passes, but he protected the ball and didn't turn it over. Montorie Foster Jr. continued to impress with 69 yards and two scores and Nick Marsh got on the board with a 25-yard catch.
Jordan Turner has yet another great defensive game and we even see a Charles Brantley pick (again) and a Jalen Thompson appearance.
Oh, and a rare missed field goal by Jonathan Kim.
Let's hope the real results are much better.
