Michigan State basketball is out hanging out at the beach this week, but that doesn't mean that work isn't being done behind the scenes.
On Wednesday, the official Twitter account named the final roster ahead of the 2025-26 season as well as jersey numbers for all the newcomers -- the returning players kept their same numbers.
Guys like Cam Ward, Jordan Scott, Kaleb Glenn, and Trey Fort all got numbers in the single-digits, but one newcomer had the most interesting jersey number on the entire roster. Divine Ugochukwu is keeping the same jersey number that he had at Miami as a freshman.

That's right, Michigan State will have a No. 99 on the roster for the upcoming season, and after doing some quick research, I couldn't find a single Spartan basketball player wearing that number -- ever.
Seeing a backup point guard wearing the No. 99 is going to be something. We haven't seen anything like that and we thought the No. 55 for Coen Carr was interesting, but now we're getting the No. 99 on a backcourt player. We did almost get a No. 69 for Steven Izzo, but Tom obviously vetoed that.
The former three-star recruit and Miami transfer had a solid freshman season but didn't shoot all that well. He has worked on that throughout Moneyball as he was one of the most surprising performers at the annual Pro-Am, and his aggressiveness while getting to the hoop helped lead his team to the title game at the event. Unfortunately, he fell short against Jeremy Fears Jr. and Carson Cooper.
Now, he's gearing up for an important sophomore season as the backup point guard for the reigning Big Ten champs. And he'll be donning that No. 99.
I'm expecting NIL money from those jersey sales to go crazy.
