Jonathan Smith hit a home run by getting a commitment from four-star quarterback Kayd Coffman, but now that commitment could be in jeopardy. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has made a move on the Michigan State commit, giving him an offer to be a Buffalo.

Colorado is currently in a quarterback battle, and Sanders is trying to secure a little more stability in his QB room going forward. Coffman could be a great addition. That was he very reason Smith worked so hard to get Coffman to commit to the Spartans. Coffman committed to the Spartans back on February 7 and has since seen his quarterback stock on the rise.

The four-star quarterback out of East Kentwood High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is the No. 32 quarterback in the class of 2026 and the No. 10 player in the state of Michigan.

Even being locked in with Michigan State, Coffman has still made other official visits and has received a few other offers. Coffman went on an official visit to Ohio State back in April and impressed Ryan Day adn the Buckeyes coaching staff.

The Spartans only have four players currently committed to their Class of 2026, with Coffman being the highest-ranked of all of them. Smith has continued to try and build his class, but with the future of Aidan Chiles uncertain after his first season was a bit unsteady, Coffman could see playing time a bit sooner than he would anywhere else.

Sanders' offering to Coffman can prove to be worrisome for Smith and the Spartans, as at Colorado, the star head coach could offer Coffman more in NIL, especially with Michigan State out of an athletic director at this moment. For right now, Coffman is still committed to Michigan State, but this is still something to keep an eye on.
