If you're one of those sickos who loves looking at recruiting rankings updates throughout the year, you're probably thrilled to see Michigan State basketball commit Carlos Medlock Jr.'s recent rise.

The four-star point guard originally from Wayne (Mich.) Memorial High School has been one of the fastest-risers in the recruiting ranks over the past few months. The now-Link Academy product has gone from a three-star, ranked No. 179 in the 2026 class, to a high-four-star, ranked No. 67 overall in less than four months.

Medlock Jr. received one of his biggest recruiting bumps on Wednesday when 247Sports released its update to the 2026 class, jumping from No. 97 all the way up to No. 67. The 30-spot jump was his second-largest single move of the summer (he jumped 75 spots in June).

This rankings update also has him as the No. 7 point guard in the country and the No. 3 recruit from the state of Missouri, behind teammates Ethan Taylor and Luca Foster. He's also just ahead of four-star teammate Tristan Reed who he was behind until Wednesday.

On the composite, he's now the No. 72 recruit in the country, rated a 97 overall.

Just when you think Tom Izzo is settling for lesser-known recruits on the trail, he proves to everyone that he's a Hall of Famer for a reason, identifying talent before the rest of the country realizes just how good a recruit is. The Spartans were in on Medlock before he blew up this summer.

And I'd be willing to bet that his rise in the rankings isn't done yet.
