A game that got away from the Spartans on Saturday evening in Lincoln was overshadowed by an altercation on the sidelines that was caught on camera. Nick Marsh and Aidan Chiles were getting into a heated discussion about what had transpired throughout the game.
Marsh likely felt like he was getting open often, but Chiles wasn’t throwing the ball his way which wasn’t entirely his fault. Yes, he was able to sit back and look his way a few times, but he was running for his life for most of the game which led to his forgettable 9-for-23 for 85 yards and two interceptions stat line.
The sophomore receiver had just four catches for 41 yards which followed up a two-reception game against USC two weeks earlier. Since that injury against Youngstown State, he has just six catches for 69 yards and no touchdowns.
The frustrations boiled over, and the two got into it a little bit on the sidelines.
Anyone who has played a competitive sport knows that this stuff happens all the time, and it’s usually squashed before these guys even get home. Chiles confirmed that on Tuesday.
Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles says he sat next to star WR Nick Marsh on the flight home from Nebraska:

“I don’t think there was any controversy (between him and Marsh), we’re both competitive dudes that were frustrated.
I’m glad we have a relationship like that where he can… pic.twitter.com/LVyNYE8Mbm
Chiles confirmed with the media that there’s no controversy and that he and Marsh are brothers and two fierce competitors who were frustrated. He also said that they sat together on the flight home and they were able to talk it out. He went on to say he’s glad they can have a friendship like this.
Marsh had every right to be frustrated with how things played out, and so did Chiles. The two voiced their frustrations and now they’ll be better for having done it.
I’m expecting the two to connect early and often against UCLA on Saturday.
