Michigan State women's basketball has made three straight NCAA Tournaments since head coach Robyn Fralick became the coach. A strong fight in the second round of the tournament wasn't enough as they fell short against the Oklahoma Sooners, ending their season.

With the season now over for the Spartans, they have plenty to look forward to. Even though Grace VanSlooten graduates, Michigan State is bringing in yet another McDonald's All-American. But that isn't the only accolade that Howell's Lilly Williams will be coming to East Lansing with.

Williams made the rounds over the past week, after she was officially named Miss Basketball of Michigan

From photo shoots in Downtown Detroit to being honored during the Detroit Pistons game, Williams was having the time her life this past week.

Lilly spoke with Jared Ramsey from the Detroit Free Press about what the honor means, and about how she's looking forward to getting to Michigan State.

"I am super thankful for the king of recognition I've got this season," Williams said. "It's more than anything I could have asked for."

She became the 45th recipient of the most prestigious award in the State of Michigan for girl’s basketball. She's also one of the tallest at 6-foot-5.

Williams’ aforementioned McDonald's All-American honor, plus the Miss Basketball Award, was also joined by being named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Michigan as well.

She was homeschooled for her first three years of high school, so most of these awards weren't going to be possible, so that was part of the reason she choose to go to Howell High School for her final season of prep ball.

She becomes the first Miss Basketball of Michigan to play for Michigan State since Dee-Dee Hageman who claimed the award in 2021.
