You know things are going well for a team when an incoming player earns McDonald’s All-American honors. That is the story for Lilly Williams from Howell, Mich. The 6-foot-5 Michigan State women's basketball commit got some massive news this week.

Williams was named to the 2026 McDonald's All-American Game. She will partake in the annual All-American game at the end of March in Glendale, Ariz.

Williams has been committed to the Spartans for quite a while, but she has a very intriguing story.

Lilly Williams took an interesting route to Michigan State

After spending most of her high school days homeschooled, Williams enrolled at Howell High School for her senior year.

That was rewarded and more with her selection to the McDonald's All-American Game. She is the lone representative from the state of Michigan.

Even though this was her first season playing in the MHSAA, Williams is no joke. She helped her team win consecutive National Homeschool Christian National Championships in 2024 and 2025.

That hard work has paid off for Williams during her senior campaign thus far. Her team is currently 16-1 and on a 12-game winning streak.

Williams’ size and length are going to be huge when she gets to Michigan State. Not to mention adding this honor gives head coach Robyn Fralick a massive piece to build around, especially when senior Grace VanSlooten will graduate after this season.

She is also ranked 15h in the nation according to ESPN. VanSlooten was also a McDonald's All-American coming out of high school, before spending her first two seasons at Oregon.

It's clear that Coach Fralick is making noise nationally, and what her team has been able to do in her three seasons at the helm is special. Lilly could pave the way for even more talent to find its way to East Lansing for the Michigan State women's basketball program

The honor is massive, and it will be exciting to see what Williams can do the rest of this season, and then once she arrives to campus.

She joins Jasiah Jervis as the other Spartan to be named to one of the McDonald’s All-American teams. He’ll be joining Tom Izzo’s team next season.
