Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo had himself quite the recruiting weekend.
To kick things off, he welcomed five-star center Ethan Taylor, four-star forward Jalyn Collingwood, and four-star point guard commit Carlos Medlock Jr. to campus. Those three spent some time in East Lansing together, and Medlock was there for his second visit in a month, trying to help Izzo land his Link Academy teammate (Taylor).
Then, Izzo and the Spartans hosted Midnight Madness followed by the Izzone Campout which is one of the more exciting events that the basketball program puts on. We even got to see the five-star center crowd-surfing during the Izzone Campout. It seems like he had fun.
The next morning, Izzo hopped on a plane and flew to Vegas to check in on four-star shooting guard Jasiah Jervis, five-star small forward Maximo Adams, and 2028 legacy recruit Mateen Cleaves Jr.
All this hard work on the recruiting trail is paying off for Izzo.
In fact, Taylor spoke to SpartanMag’s Jason Killop about his visit, and he gave one of the more remarkable and eye-opening quotes you’ll see from an elite recruit.

”I don’t think I have ever experienced something like that night.”
If that’s not a glowing review of his Michigan State visit, I don’t know what would be. He seemingly loved everything about his trip to East Lansing, and it made enough of an impression on him to cancel his visit to Kentucky which was supposed to be the following weekend.
All signs are pointing to Michigan State being the favorite right now, although that’s just speculation and a gut feeling based on quotes and everything that’s come out about the visit.
Taylor is the nation’s No. 2 center — he’d be a perfect fit with the Spartans.
