Jonathan Smith has Michigan State football cooking on the recruiting trail recently.

After having a class that sat somewhere in the 70s nationally heading into the summer, Smith found a way to knock official visit season out of the park, landing about 20 commits and vaulting his class up into the top 25. He identified his top targets and landed darn near all of them.

Smith also had some shocking commitments like Collin Campbell and Tyren Wortham, two four-stars who weren't exactly on the radar heading into official visits.

The class is going to flirt with the top 25 until signing day and if the On3 recruiting rankings update is any indication of what to expect when the other recruiting services release their new rankings, Michigan State is definitely signing a top 25 class.

According to Kenny Jordan, the new On3 update has vaulted four Spartans into the top 300.

The one who catches everyone's attention here is Wortham who jumped from No. 287 up to No. 112 in the latest On3 rankings which means the Spartans could very well end up with a top-100 receiver commit when the final rankings are released later this year.

On top of Wortham, Campbell is a top-200 recruit at No. 187 overall and Eli Bickell was another huge riser, going from outside the top-300 as a three-star to No. 243 and is now a four-star.

Kayd Coffman has been a composite four-star for a minute now, but it's good to see him still getting love from recruiting services such as On3. He's No. 286 nationally, but I think he could rise into that top 250 range before the recruiting class is wrapped up.

Not a bad core four to have in the 2026 class. The future of the offense is bright.
