3. This feels like a classic Tom Izzo team

For the first time since Cassius Winston, it feels like Tom Izzo has one of his classic hard-nosed teams. The Spartans can rebound, get out and run, defend, and they can seemingly shoot at a high percentage now. This team out-toughs and out-hustles opponents regularly and that's something that we haven't seen consistently since 2019-2020.

On top of the rebounding, defense, running, passing, and shooting, Michigan State is also getting to the foul line at a solid rate and the Spartans are deeper than any team in recent memory.

Ten different players played at least 14 minutes on Wednesday which is just unheard of in the college basketball world these days. You don't see teams 10-11 deep anymore but it feels like the Spartans could play up to 12 people on any given night -- heck, Gehrig Normand scored five points in two minutes and Kur Teng had two in five minutes.

Michigan State won the rebounding battle 39-27, had 25 assists on 29 made baskets, went 21-for-26 from the free throw line, dominated on the fast break, and shot 11-for-22 from deep.

This is one of those classic Tom Izzo teams that seems to surprise everyone.
