Official visit season is officially upon us and that means that Michigan State football will be looking to make moves with some of their top targets while they're on campus over the next month.
The weekend of May 30 will kick off the official visit stretch to begin summer and it's an opportunity for Jonathan Smith to finally get some momentum back on his side after three months of silence on the recruiting trail.
According to 247Sports, there will be 10 recruits on campus this weekend, including one Spartan commit. But these are the most important (uncommitted) visitors.
1. Collin Campbell, 4-star OT (Gilbert, Ariz.)
Collin Campbell has to be No. 1 on this list because, well, he's the top-ranked recruit visiting Michigan State this weekend. He'll kick off official visit season as the first four-star to check out East Lansing and it looks like the Spartans are in a good spot for him.
According to 247Sports, Michigan State and Utah are the only teams "warm" for him.
Campbell is a 6-foot-7, 280-pound monster who could bolster the offensive line under Jim Michalczik for years to come. He's ranked the No. 369 overall recruit and 34th-best offensive tackle in the class.
2. Braylon Hodge, 3-star LB (Englewood, Colo.)
Michigan State has been high on Braylon Hodge's list for a little while now and it looks like the Spartans are one of four true contenders for his services heading into the weekend -- Iowa, Minnesota, and Utah are the other three.
Hodge is ranked the No. 45 linebacker in the class and he's rated an 88 by 247Sports which means he's bordering on four-star status. He could get that bump this summer.
3. Brayden Thomas, 3-star S (Lakewood, Ohio)
Why is Brayden Thomas so important? Well, he's the only flip candidate on campus this weekend which is big for Jonathan Smith and Co.
Thomas has been committed to Iowa State since February but he's from an area that loves Michigan State and the Spartans have recruited Ohio well over the years. He may be committed for the past four months, but it just feels like Michigan State is trending heavily here.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound safety is ranked the No. 71 player at his position in the country as well as the No. 837 overall recruit by the 247Sports Composite.
