Michigan State’s 2027 recruiting class sits at seven commits in the week leading up to the first batch of official visits, and I fully expect Pat Fitzgerald to grow that number soon.

Commitments may not be guaranteed over the first weekend of visits, but there are some guys who are standing out as the most likely candidates to commit to Michigan State.

Which Michigan State official visits over the weekend of May 29 are most likely to commit?

1. Don Spillers, 3-star WR

A name that has popped up a bunch lately regarding Michigan State is three-star Detroit-based wide receiver Don Spillers. The Detroit King star is teammates with another top Michigan State target (three-star lineman Jameer Henry) and he could become the first domino to fall over the next month of officials.

Spillers was offered by the Spartans last summer but Fitzgerald has made him a priority as well, carrying that interest over from the previous staff.

Although he also has visits with Illinois (June 5) and Louisville (June 12), I wouldn’t be shocked to see him cancel those after committing to Michigan State. Courtney Hawkins will be pushing for a pledge from him next weekend.

2. Nehemiah Ombati, 4-star DL

Nehemiah Ombati isn’t a name that has been mentioned in Michigan State circles a ton, but that’s because his recruitment has been pretty quiet. Michigan State actually made his top three at the beginning of the month of May and now the Spartans are getting his first visit. It’s be crazy to say that Michigan State doesn’t have a chance to land him next weekend.

Ombati is also considering Missouri and Nebraska but his only other official is with the Tigers on June 12. Michigan State could do enough next weekend to make him cancel that visit.

The four-star is ranked the No. 374 prospect in the 2027 class and he’s the No. 42 defensive lineman. He’s also Minnesota’s second-best recruit.

3. Reinaldo Perez, 4-star DL

This is the biggest long-shot, in my opinion, but the other visitors just haven’t been mentioned with Michigan State enough for me to predict that they’ll be Spartans. Reinaldo Perez is one of the higher-ranked May 29 visitors but he’s been high on Michigan State for a while now. He’s also been impressed with Fitzgerald and what he’s been doing in East Lansing.

Perez already had visits with Indiana and Stanford and was in East Lansing back in April, but he could very well decide to end his recruitment over the weekend of May 29. He’s the No. 296 recruit in the class and he’d instantly become the highest-ranked Spartan commit.

I don’t think the chances are high, but out of the remaining targets who will be in town on May 29, Perez looks like the most likely to commit to Michigan State.
