Michigan State football receives crystal ball for 4-star RB Anthony Carrie (again)
Michigan State football has been making headlines a lot lately.
Earlier in the fall, it was for the wrong reasons. Now? Well, the hire of Jonathan Smith has gotten the positive attention of national media members as CBS Sports’ Barrett Sallee even called it an A+ hire, giving it the highest grade of the current coaching carousel thus far.
The transfers out of the program have caused some fans to panic, but not to the point of no return. All it takes is one crystal ball or one recruit saying he’s locked in.
Well, the Spartans got both this week.
Earlier in the week, Nick Marsh announced that he would be sticking with Michigan State and he got a chance to recruit some fellow classmates on Thursday as four-star running back Anthony Carrie received a crystal ball to re-commit to the Spartans.
This is a huge development, especially since the Spartans have lost a lot of key skill position players on the offensive side of the ball.
Anthony Carrie could push for immediate snaps with Michigan State football
Obviously Carrie’s hand was pushed when Mel Tucker was fired mid-season. He was committed to Tucker and ready to join him in East Lansing. That changed quickly.
Carrie hung on until Nov. 20 when he decommitted following visits to South Carolina and NC State and experts believed he was going to end up with the Wolfpack.
Well, something seems to have changed.
On Thursday, an NC State insider on 247Sports flipped his crystal ball to the Spartans. This is a pretty telling sign that things are trending away from NC State and back toward Michigan State.
The hiring of Smith had to have a positive impact on Carrie despite not receiving an offer from Oregon State. He must like the offensive staff that Smith is bringing with him.
We’ll see if the Spartans can get two players to re-commit in one cycle. That would be unprecedented.
