By now, we’ve all heard about the Urban Meyer hype, and I’m fully on board, too. He would be my top option to be Michigan State’s next head coach, but it may not be that likely anymore.

Meyer loves his job at FOX as a Big Noon Kickoff analyst and he’s good at it. He brings plenty of knowledge to the table every Saturday and, hey, maybe all is quiet on the Urban front because he’s waiting for his contract to play out this season. That would make sense, but no one really knows why the hype died down.

For that reason, I’m putting him at No. 3.

That doesn’t mean he can’t vault up to the top spot if the rumors start swirling again and the Spartans get a legit shot to land him.

Urban is one of the greatest college football coaches of all time and he’d instantly turn Michigan State into a winner while recruiting at an elite level. In the new Big Ten, he’s the kind of coach the Spartans desperately need.
