I had to drop Charles Huff all the way from No. 1 where I had him a few weeks ago down to No. 4 this week. He’s currently riding a two-game losing streak, giving up 35-plus points in three straight games and 40-plus in these back-to-back losses.

Basically, if you want defense, Huff is apparently not your guy.

The former Alabama and Penn State assistant who was once named the national recruiter of the year has done a solid job at Marshall in two-plus years. He went 7-6 in his first season in 2021 and then 9-4 last year before starting 4-0 this season. Unfortunately, he lost to NC State in a close game last week and then he got throttled by Georgia State 41-24 this past weekend.

Granted, Georgia State is a good team and a Sun Belt contender but Marshall, too, is expecting to contend in the conference and losing by 17 is not a good look.

The Thundering Herd will get a chance to rebound and make a statement this week against a 6-0 James Madison team.
