Michigan State football: Power ranking head coaching candidates after Week 6
Another week is in the books and this time around, we don’t have a Michigan State football loss to talk about since the Spartans were on a bye.
The bye comes at a good time as the team needed a break from distractions following their head coach getting fired because of an off-field incident and a three-game losing streak. You just know these guys have been dealing with a ton.
A lot of them won’t make a decision on their futures until a new head coach is named.
After Week 6, what do the head coaching candidate power rankings look like?
Honorable Mention: Sean Lewis, Chris Klieman, Brian Hartline
Jake Dickert rocketed up people’s lists a couple of weeks ago after upsetting Oregon State and improving to 4-0 on the year, but the Cougars took a big step back in Week 6, losing at UCLA by eight.
Granted, this was just an overall rough performance by the Cougars and likely a hangover after beating the No. 14 team in the country which came a few weeks after taking down No. 19 Wisconsin, but Washington State looked really bad.
Offensively, they were discombobulated, scoring just 10 points and turning the ball over four times, including two picks by Cameron Ward. His Heisman Trophy campaign is all but over after this one but luckily the Cougars can bounce back this week against Arizona.
Pac-12 title hopes are still very much alive, but the loss to UCLA was a rough one.
