OK, so far I’ve only seen one person realistically use this name as a potential candidate but that person has a big following and it’s giving some people false hope.

No, Marcus Freeman will not leave Notre Dame to be the next head coach at MSU.

Why? Just look at what he has in South Bend right now. While his contract is lower than it probably should be, that can be adjusted. He has a team that is ranked in the top-15 in the middle of a playoff race and he’s consistently landing top recruiting classes. Everything Freeman needs is at his fingertips.

No, I’m not downplaying the resources Michigan State has because it can probably pay Freeman more, but he would have to basically start from scratch in East Lansing. Why would he leave a playoff contender and one of the most prestigious programs in the country for a potential rebuild?

There was a point in time that Freeman was nearly a defensive coordinator for the Spartans when Luke Fickell was rumored to be taking the head coaching job at MSU back in 2020, but this scenario is even less likely.

Stop this nonsense.
