It’s becoming increasingly clear that Michigan State football recruiting is going to take a major hit in the 2024 class, and that’s not a huge surprise given the turn of events in East Lansing.

The Spartans have already lost commitments from Reggie Powers and Camren Campbell, two defensive backs committed since the summer. Powers was on the rise as a recently-anointed four-star safety out of Ohio, but he’s going to be opening things back up for some big programs to take a look at him.

Another big-time Michigan State commit could soon be in that same boat.

According to reports, Nick Marsh will be in Boulder this weekend for the Colorado vs. USC game.

Not surprising, but not great.

Keeping Marsh should be top priority for Michigan State football

It’s easy to say that priorities should be keeping whoever is left in the 2024 recruiting class together, and while I agree, I believe that Marsh is the No. 1 priority in that group.

The four-star receiver from River Rouge, Mich., is one of the most talented players in the entire class. He’s going to be a potential day one starter wherever he goes and Michigan State could use his caliber of talent to build around for the next coaching staff.

The one way I believe that Michigan State can hold on to Marsh without losing him to Colorado or Penn State is by retaining Courtney Hawkins as receivers coach.

The next head coach has some important decisions to make, but hopefully Marsh hangs around long enough to see who it is and see if he retains his position coach.

This will not be an easy recruitment to win (again).
