One of my favorite coordinators in college football right now resides in Tallahassee with former Spartan Keon Coleman. Alex Atkins has turned the former Michigan State wideout into a superstar already and he’s only had his hands on Coleman for about four months.

Atkins is widely considered one of the best offensive minds in college football and that’s evident through two years as Florida State’s offensive coordinator. He started as the offensive line coach under Mike Norvell in 2020 until 2021 but he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 and his impact was immediately felt.

In fact, Florida State went from one of the worst offenses in the ACC to the best in his first year. He helped turn Jordan Travis’ career around and had one of the most balanced and unpredictable attacks in the country last year. The offensive side of the ball was a big reason the Seminoles had such a strong season and began 2023 ranked in the top 10.

As a young coach who can recruit at a high level and connect with players, Atkins would be a great option for Michigan State if it went the rising star route.

I’d be all-in with Atkins at the helm.
