Some horrible news hit social media on Saturday night as a report from ESPN’s Dan Murphy revealed that Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker is facing a sexual harassment case.

This comes after an apparent months-long investigation into the case which is ugly. The details came out about the alleged incident shortly after Murphy broke the news via an in-depth piece by Kenny Jacoby of USA Today.

According to the report by Jacoby, rape survivor Brenda Tracy has accused Tucker of engaging in sexual misconduct over the phone that was nonconsensual.

This couldn’t have been a worse look.

Tracy was brought in by Tucker to help repair the university’s relationship with survivors and then something like this happens? Not good. Just another black eye for the school.

There’s a good chance Michigan State football will move on

While this is complete speculation and I have no inside knowledge of the situation, any time an accusation like this is made public and there are witnesses supporting it, it doesn’t end well for the accused.

We do have to wait for a statement from the university and/or Tucker to make any final declarations, but this looks to me like a nail-in-the-coffin type of situation.

Not only would this damage Michigan State’s reputation, but it just makes life more difficult for a survivor like Tracy who is still recovering.

Honestly, I’m at a loss for words. There’s nothing else to say but this is horrible and disappointing.

We’ll keep this story updated as more details and statements emerge.
