3. Give Katin Houser the fourth quarter

Which brings us to our third goal. Gain such a big lead on Richmond, that Katin Houser can get a full quarter of experience.

While everyone, including me, wanted to see Houser late in the first half against Central Michigan, it was clear that he’s not quite ready to lead an offense. Again, Houser was probably dealing with first-game jitters and is still incredibly young.

Giving him an entire quarter, instead of a drive or two, will help him get into a rhythm, get comfortable and show what he is showing in practice. Of course, Noah Kim will stay healthy all season, but being comfortable with a “break glass in case of emergency” quarterback can keep the season on the rails.

Prediction: Michigan State 41, Richmond 13
