Michigan State football’s win over Central Michigan in Week 1 wasn’t exactly the flawless. The Spartans were only up 10-7 at halftime before pulling away with a 31-7 vicotry.

Admittedly, there’s a lot for this team to work on and the old saying goes, “The most improvement from a team comes between Weeks 1 and 2.”

Let’s hope that’s true.

With Week 1 jitters out of the way, what improvements can Michigan State make against Richmond that would have fans feeling better?

3. Creating more turnovers

Michigan State picked off Bert Emanuel Jr. in the win over Central Michigan thanks to a heads-up play from Cal Haladay, but there were other opportunities to force turnovers but dropped interceptions denied that.

Also, Michigan State didn’t force a single fumble which seemed to be its calling card early in the 2022 season thanks to Jacoby Windmon who had six of his own forced fumbles.

Against a team like Central, you have to win the turnover battle and Michigan State did just that, but a 1-0 victory in that column doesn’t exactly feel like a win.

The Spartans need to force more turnovers against Richmond in Week 2.
