It wasn’t a pretty start, but Michigan State football pulled away in the second half en route to a blowout win over Central Michigan to start the season 1-0.

Things were very shaky early but the Spartans bounced back in a big way.

They went into the half up just 10-7, but Michigan State extended that score in the second half thanks to a lot better of an effort on both sides of the ball.

What did we learn from the Spartans’ Week 1 win?

3. Nathan Carter is going to be a star

If you watched this game, you would have seen Nathan Carter getting the start and rushing for over 100 yards in his Spartan debut. What more could you ask for?

Not only did he rush for over 100 yards, but he looked like the next big thing in the backfield. I wasn’t shocked that he was so productive, but I was a little shocked at how good he looked when he didn’t seem to have a ton of running room.

Carter was shifty and didn’t go down easily and he finished the game with 113 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

His breakout year at UConn last year was a sign of things to come obviously.
