3. They had the nation’s worst turnover margin in 2022
Central Michigan ranked dead-last in turnover margin last year throwing 10 interceptions while only picking off four on defense. They also lost an astonishing 18 fumbles on the year while only recovering six.
That -18 turnover margin is something the Spartans will have to pounce on if they want to make light work of the Chips.
A good way to help out a young quarterback with an unproven offensive is to give them a short field to work with and the Spartans will need to force turnovers if they expect to win ball games this year.
