The opening of the Tom Izzo Football Building was the biggest news of the week. The inside of the building features state-of-the-art renovations to keep Michigan State football players at their best mentally and physically.

Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo is famously a huge football fan and has gone on record saying he loves when his basketball recruits play football in high school. He loves the toughness and grit that comes with being a football player and he encapsulates that in his basketball program.

But like everything, Twitter has turned what should be an amazing accomplishment for the Spartans and took a big stinky dump all over it, questioning why a basketball coach’s name is on a football building like it’s the first something like this has ever been done, which it isn’t.

I, for one, think more things should be named after Tom Izzo.

Here are three out of the possible 100 I came up with this morning.

3. The undergraduate library

Naming the main library after Tom Izzo is a great way to remind students that when they enter, they should give 100 percent effort and dedication. It’s a place where we all have faced adversity and have come out better on the other side.

It’s difficult getting amped up to “go to the library”, but people will be lining up to get into the “Tom Izzo Unlimited Knowledge Coliseum”.

With a designation like that, Izzo couldn’t be prouder to have his name on a building where the other 99 percent of students who aren’t athletes are working hard to achieve their dream of getting a degree from Michigan State University.
