2. Cornerbacks

I believe Michigan State has two legit starting safeties, but there are a number of cornerbacks pushing for the starting job and I don’t think anyone knows who the starters will be.

Charles Brantley entered the portal shortly after Keon Coleman and Payton Thorne announced that they were entering only to withdraw his name a day later. He’s back as a veteran at cornerback but he’ll be fighting for his job. He’s been a starter, but he’s also had plenty of struggles over his first two years. Could he win that job back in camp? Absolutely.

Who else could start at cornerback for the Spartans? Iowa transfer Terry Roberts, Wisconsin transfer Semar Melvin, former Louisville transfer Marqui Lowery, and former Florida transfer Chester Kimbrough are all options. The Spartans also have Dillon Tatum who could play both safety and corner as well as younger guys like Caleb Coley and Chance Rucker.

Michigan State has a number of talented cornerbacks and some with legit experience so it’ll be interesting to see which two rise to the top of the depth chart.
