Last week ended strong for Michigan State football, landing four-star receiver Nick Marsh over Penn State, Pitt, and Kansas. He decommitted in the spring but decided to rejoin the 2024 class on Friday after going through the process of official visits.

But with the good came some bad news.

Although Marsh became a Spartan which was the biggest win of the week, another top target who was looking green earlier in the week decided to commit to Oregon.

That target was California-based four-star linebacker Dylan Williams. He was being pursued by some top Pac-12 programs but Michigan State seemed to make a huge move late. Unfortunately, it was Oregon that won out because of proximity, Dan Lanning, and likely the facilities that the football program has.

Now, the Spartans have a chance to make up for that with another four-star linebacker from the West Coast in Kamar Mothudi.

He has announced a commitment date of July 11.

Mothudi has a top five of Utah, Texas, Washington, Oregon, and Michigan State. My best guess would be either Oregon or Washington, but you can’t count the Spartans out after they wowed him on his official visit on June 9.

Michigan State football firmly in the mix

Mel Tucker knocked Mothudi’s official visit out of the park and that’s what’s keeping the Spartans firmly in the mix for the nation’s No. 217 overall recruit and 19th-best linebacker.

Cyreeta Hall, the mother of freshman linebacker Jordan Hall, even showed support for whatever Mothudi chooses and his mother even responded. She claims she doesn’t know what Kamar is going to do on Tuesday but that she made a good pitch for the Spartans.

You love to see parents of current Michigan State players doing some recruiting of their own and even Marsh’s mom voiced her desire for Mothudi to join the Spartans’ 2024 class.

It’s not looking great for the Spartans as Williams and Mothudi may team up at Oregon, but at least Michigan State has given him something to think about.
