Michigan State football vs. Mountain West
There have been some fun matchups for Michigan State against Mountain West teams over the years (Utah State and Boise State come to mind), but the Spartans haven’t played five teams from the conference.
Nevada: The Wolf Pack have been around since 1896 and Michigan State has still yet to face Nevada. That surprises me. I think this would be a cool matchup, especially for Spartan fans who want to head out to Nevada for some extracurricular activities for a weekend.
New Mexico: Another team that has been around since the 1890s, New Mexico just isn’t in Michigan State’s region and there has been no reason to make this a scheduled matchup. On top of that, the Lobos have only been to 13 bowl games in its 130-year history.
San Diego State: This is one of those matchups that I would have no problem seeing Michigan State schedule. One, San Diego is a beautiful city that fans would love to travel to, and two, the Aztecs are usually one of the better Group of Five teams. Get it done, Alan Haller.
San Jose State: No, there has never been a Spartans vs. Spartans matchup and that disappoints me just as much as it probably upsets you. Michigan State facing San Jose State just seems like something that needs to happen in order to find out who the real Spartans are. We all know it would be Michigan State.
UNLV: A reason to go to Las Vegas? Count me in. Other than that, this matchup wouldn’t make a ton of sense other than getting a chance to see Ricky White one last time.
