The month of June was a big one for Mel Tucker and Michigan State football as they landed seven commitments and then kicked off July with another one.

The program that many were panicking about when it came to recruiting is now up to 11 commitments with more on the horizon. There are a number of top targets that haven’t committed yet and Michigan State is in a good spot for.

Who would I considered the five must-have 2024 targets for MSU?

I’m going to kick things off with an honorable mention.

The reason that Kamar Mothudi is an honorable mention instead of being on the list is because I think there’s another linebacker that Michigan State is in a better position for.

But Mothudi would still be a heck of an addition.

The four-star linebacker from California raved about his visit to Michigan State on June 9 and said that he was blown away and it exceeded his expectations. However, it feels like Oregon might be the favorite here and he’s also considering Washington and Utah, per 247Sports.

Mothudi is the No. 217 overall recruit and 19th-best linebacker in the country. He would be yet another elite addition to that position group by Mel Tucker, following Jordan Hall last year and Ma’a Gaoteote from 2021.
