A few months ago, Michigan State football fans received some terrible recruiting news. The Spartans lost the commitment of four-star receiver Nick Marsh who had pledged to Mel Tucker the previous summer and looked like the next great Michigan State wideout.

Marsh wanted to make sure he was making the right decisions and get some visits in before he made things official and signed his NLI.

Early in June, it looked like Penn State was the clear favorite team. The Nittany Lions had knocked his official visit out of the park and he was looking like a future Penn State star. Then Kansas and Pitt made up some ground, but that all led to a June 23 official visit to Michigan State.

And Tucker nailed it.

From all accounts, Michigan State did a really good job on his visit and Penn State recruiting insiders on Rivals and On3 are beginning to flip their predictions to land Marsh from the Nittany Lions to the Spartans. In fact, Michigan State has quickly become the leader to land the top-100 receiver with a decision coming on July 7.

Michigan State football trending up

If Michigan State is able to get Marsh to recommit (a rarity these days), we might be talking about Tucker’s best class forming right in front of our eyes.

The Spartans just landed four-star running back Anthony Carrie, they’re trending for four-star running back Jason Brown, looking good with three-star defensive back Justin Denson, are back in the running for four-star top-100 defensive back Jamari Howard, and Marsh would be the icing on the cake.

Landing him would be absolutely massive.

Michigan State’s recruiting class has gone from No. 75 all the way up to the top-50 range in just a couple of weeks. Things are trending up.
