Michigan State football: Jamari Howard added to star-studded visitor list
Well, Jamari Howard is back on campus just over a month after deciding to reopen his recruitment after originally being part of Michigan State football’s 2024 class.
The four-star cornerback was rumored to be taking an official visit earlier this month, but that never happened and now he’s on campus for the weekend of June 23. This is a big development as it seems clear that Mel Tucker isn’t done recruiting him.
While programs like Florida, Miami, Florida, State, and Rutgers are all in the running for Howard, Michigan State was the program he first committed to.
There’s familiarity there and with a return trip to East Lansing for the first time since his decommitment, he could get that home-like feeling again and it could conjure up his original feelings for the program when he committed back in September.
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, though. He’s just visiting and Florida is probably the main threat in his recruitment.
Michigan State football trying to land two former commits this weekend
This is a big weekend for Tucker not just because he’s hosting a handful of top-100 prospects, but because two of those recruits happen to be former commits.
Nick Marsh and Howard were both committed to the Spartans until this spring when they decided to reopen their recruitments. Both, however, kept Michigan State very much in the running and they’ll both be on campus this weekend for official visits.
Could they potentially talk about re-joining up? Potentially.
Marsh is leaning Penn State heading into the weekend ahead of a July 7 decision and Howard is pretty open with Florida being the main threat and Rutgers getting an official visit. Michigan State has a chance to sway both back to the good guys.
This is a monster weekend and it’d be nice to see 247Sports’ No. 71 overall recruit back with the green and white.
